Dr Jacinta Walsh (f)

MB, ChB, MRCGP, Dip Pall Med, Cert Primary Care Education

Works: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays

Dr Walsh joined the practice in 1999. She is an approved GP trainer. She is particularly skilled and interested in palliative care. She is the Senior Partner for the practice. She is the clinical director for the Five Towns Primary Care Network.

Dr Rebecca Harding (f)

MB, ChB MRCGP DRCOG DFFP Cert Primary Care Education

Works: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays

Dr Harding joined the practice in 2008 after completing her general practice training on the Pontefract GP Training Scheme. She is an approved GP trainer and has a special interest in Family Planning

Sr Helen Wright (f)

BSc(hons) PGDip Advanced Practice

Works: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays

Helen trained at Leeds Metropolitan University and after working at Pinderfields Intensive Care Unit, joined the practice in 2002. After a spell working abroad, she returned to the UK and is now and Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Team Leader. Helen is the practice lead for patients with respiratory conditions – Asthma and COPD.

Dr Emma Still (f)

MB ChB (hons), MRCGP, DSFRH, PGcert in Medical Education

Works: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays

Dr Still joined the practice as a GP trainee in 2011 and became a GP Partner in 2022. She has a special interest in women’s health, contraception and menopause. As well as being a GP trainer, Dr Still is also the practice lead for Care Homes, Cardiovascular and Safeguarding.

Dr Sarah Deeley (f)

Dr Deeley joined the practice in 2009 after hospital jobs in Liverpool and completing her general practice training on the Pontefract GP Training Scheme. She is an approved GP Trainer.

Dr Firmin joined the practice in 2021 after completing the Dewsbury, Wakefield and Pontefract GP Training Scheme.

Dr Hannah Espin (f)

MB BS MSc Med Sci by thesis MRCGP PG Dip Dermatology

Works: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays / Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays

Dr Espin joined the practice in 2021 after completing her GP training locally in 2019. She has a special interest in dermatology and healthcare-related IT. Dr Espin performs joint injections and minor surgery, she is the practice lead for hypertension.

Dr Miranda joined the practice in 2022 after completing the Mid Yorkshire GP Training Scheme (with his final year being completed at King’s). He is the QOF lead for Atrial Fibrillation.

Dr Treifi joined the practice in 2022 after completing the Northumbria GP Training scheme in 2021

Dr Vanessa Perrott (f)

MbChB MRCGP MA (Linguistics) PGCME

Works: Mondays

Dr Perrott has been working as a GP for over 20 years, with experience ranging from urban South Africa to rural England. She joined the practice in 2024 and has an academic interest in education and research in primary care and a clinical interest in women’s health.

Michelle Kirwan (f)

BSc (Hons) MSc Physician Associate

Michelle joined the practice, initially as a trainee, then again in 2021, after completing her master’s in Physician Associate studies at the university of Leeds. She has a background in biomedical science and performs a vital role working with both the doctor and nursing teams, managing a wide range of conditions.

Ayesha Mahmood (f)

Ayesha joined the practice in 2022 after completing her master’s degree in Physician Associates studies at the university of Leeds. She has a background in biomedical science and histopathology. She works within the medical team to help manage a wide range of conditions.

Advanced Nurse Practitioners

Angela Phillips (f)

RGN MSc Cervical Screening MSc Advanced Nursing Practitioner

Works: Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays / Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursdays

Angela has been with the practice since 2010 and the nursing team since 2012. Angela started in the admin team and then progressed into the nursing team as a Health Care Assistant and was supported by the practice to undertake a Nursing Degree through the Open University. She is currently working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, after completing a Master’s degree in 2023. Angela is also keeping up to date with her nursing skills by undertaking travel health, smears, wound care, immunisations, respiratory and ear care.

Anne Smith (f)

RGN BSc Hons Community Health Core Nursing Nurse prescriber

Anne is a registered adult nurse and is a specialist nurse practitioner who joined the practice from the district nursing team in 2012. She has a special interest in diabetes and is a specialist and the Practice lead in wound care.

Sarah Cree (f)

RGN BSC (Hons) Health Science, Non-medical Prescriber

Works: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays

Sarah joined the Practice in 2017 as an experienced Practice Nurse with a special interest in diabetes. She also manages patients with Asthma, and sexual health and contraception needs

Kirsteen is a registered adult nurse and is a practice nurse who joined the practice in 2017. She has a special interest in asthma and respiratory conditions.

Louise Cotterill (f)

RGN RSCN

Works: Wednesdays, Thursdays

Louise is a registered adult and childrens nurse and is a practice nurse who joined the practice in 2011 having worked as a school nurse. She has a special interest in asthma, children, and women’s health.

Louise Targett (f)

Assistance Practioner

Works: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays

Louise was initially a healthcare assistant but has been supported by the Practice to become an Assistant Practitioner. She works under the supervision of the lead nurse and is involved in the management of our patients with long term conditions and health promotion. Louise is the Learning Disabilities lead in the practice.

Avril Cookson (f)

Healthcare Assistant

Works: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays

Avril has been with the Practice over 20 years and started in the admin team. Avril made the decision to train as a phlebotomist as part of the nursing team, and has since undertaken her Level 3 Health Care Assistant training and is now able to do many more procedures including vaccinations, vitamin B12 injections, dressings, well person checks, ECGs, and blood pressure monitoring.

Claire Wilkinson (f)

Healthcare Assistant

Claire joined the Practice in 2017 as a phlebotomist and has recently qualified as a Health Care Assistant to further develop and expand her skills.

Faieza Haq (f)

Phlebotomist

Works: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays

Faieza is a phlebotomist (takes blood samples) and works under the supervision of the lead nurse.

Shauna Johnson (f)

BTEC level 4 GP Assistant. Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care

Works: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays

Shauna joined the Practice in 2023 and provides a support role, carrying out administrative tasks, combined with basic clinical duties. Supporting our GPs in their day to day management of patients.

Emma Mair (f)

RGN Long Term Condition Practice Nurse

Works: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays

Emma studied at Huddersfield University and qualified in 1999 as a Registered Adult Nurse. Emma has been a practice nurse for the last 10 years and joined King’s in 2023. She has a special interest in Diabetes, Respiratory, Cytology and Travel.

Clair joined the surgery in 2024. She qualified in 2022 at Huddersfield University. She has a special interest in respiratory and women’s health.

Reception and Administration Teams

Our reception and administration teams are led by:

  • Reception and Administration Manager
  • Reception Team Leader

They provide an important link for patients to the surgery and are your initial contact point.

They can provide basic information on services and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query.

As well as booking patient appointments with the clinicians, they also perform other important tasks such as:

  • issuing prescriptions and dealing with medication queries
  • giving test results
  • sending referrals
  • processing medical reports
  • dealing with hospital correspondence
  • dealing with general queries
